How to hang an A2 poster — with or without a frame
A2 is the big standard poster size: 42 × 59.4 cm. Here’s how to get it on the wall neatly.
First: flatten it
Posters arrive rolled. Unroll it on a clean table, gently roll it the other way for a minute, then lay it flat under a few books for a day. Don’t iron it, and don’t bend a lenticular print: the lens sheet can crease.
Without a frame
- Poster hanger: two wooden rails clamp the top and bottom edges; hang it from a cord. Clean, and very Japanese.
- Removable adhesive strips on the back corners: no holes in the wall or the poster.
- Bulldog clips on two nails: relaxed and easy to swap.
- Washi tape on the corners: decorative, best for lightweight paper prints.
With a frame
A2 frames are standard and easy to find. For a lenticular print, choose a frame you can use without the glass — the lens sheet is the surface, and glass only adds reflections. A mount (passe-partout) makes it look bigger and more gallery-like.
Where and how high
Hang the centre of the poster at about 150 cm — eye level for most people. Above a sofa or sideboard, leave 20–30 cm of space. For a lenticular print, choose a spot people walk past.
